Welcome to the first edition of Pages I’m Turning!
This will be an extra newsletter you will receive on the last day of every month. It will be full of my thoughts on recent reads, what I am currently reading, and what is on my radar to read next!
I would love if you would leave a comment, message me, or respond to this email and let me know what pages you have been turning!
Just Shelved: Recent Reads
Romance: Romancing the Grump by Jenny Proctor - This is the fourth book in the Appies no spice, hockey romance series by Emma St. Clair and Jenny Proctor. I have absolutely adored all of these books so far, and this one was no different! I loved the way that Nathan and Summer’s relationship progressed, especially with the fake dating aspect. The found family is also really good in this book, and I love that we get to see a lot of the other Appies couples!
Romance: The Fall Risk by Abby Jimenez - Abby Jimenez is such an incredible writer, and this short story is evidence of that! I think this is such a fun, unique, quick read that will not disappoint. No spice!
Christian Non-Fiction: God Has a Name by John Mark Comer - I am such a fan of John Mark Comer’s writing, but I had not picked up this earlier book of his until last year when he republished it. It was truly so good. His writing is conversational, approachable, and digestible. Whether you are a Christian or just curious, I think you would enjoy this book!
What’s on My Nightstand: Current Reads
Romance: Runaway Bride and Prejudice by Emma St. Clair - This is the fifth book in the Appies series! I’m a little over halfway through, and it feels different from the others since the first part takes place outside of their small town of Harvest Hollow. It’s also the least wintery, making it a great transition into spring/summer. I just reached the part where they’re back home, and I’m loving the familiar characters woven into this new love story. There’s definitely some tension in their relationship right now (and not the good kind), so I am anxious to see how it resolves into a happily ever after!
Christian Non-Fiction: Create a Life You Love by Stephanie May Wilson - I just started this on audio a couple of days ago, but so far, I am really enjoying it! If you are a woman in your twenties or thirties who feels the weight of a big decision, feels behind, or feels like others’ expectations (or your own expectations) for your life are holding you back, I think this book would resonate with you.
Next in the Queue: Upcoming Reads
Romance: When Alec Met Evie by Jenny Proctor - This is the sixth and final book in the Appies series, and I am ready to read it once I finish Runaway Bride and Prejudice! Alec is the Appies team captain, and we have gotten many glimpses of him in previous books. I am so excited to finally read his story!
Nonfiction: The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt - This book has been on my list since before it came out, and I am finally reading it with a book club! I cannot wait to dive into all of this research both for myself and for the students I teach.
Finally, I am so excited about the Only Magic in the Building series! This is a new series written by various no spice authors such as Courtney Walsh, Jenny Proctor, Katie Bailey, and more! A new book comes out every Wednesday from March 5th until April 23rd. “These closed door, whimsical romance books are all set in the same historic building, which has a habit of playing matchmaker with its residents. There are light magical elements, but no spells, shifters, or dark magic of any kind.” I plan to pick up as many of these books as I can in the next few months!

Only magic in the building seems like a cool series!
