Just Shelved: Recent Reads
Misfortune and Mr. Right by Savannah Scott - This is the fourth book in the Only Magic in the Building series. I am usually not an enemies to lovers or workplace romance fan, but I really enjoyed this story! It felt like a second chance, and I loved the magical fortune cookies!
Clean Out of Luck by Carina Taylor - This is the fifth book in the Only Magic in the Building series, and I loved Scarlett and Wade! This is a brother’s best friend story, and I really love any romance where the characters have history. The friend group was also so fun!
Off the Wall by Julie Christianson - This is the sixth book in the Only Magic in the Building series, and if you can’t tell by now, I have been flying through this series. The magic in this one felt a little off the wall to me, pun intended, but I enjoyed the romance!
Fearless by Lauren Roberts - I flew through this final book in the Powerless trilogy. There were things I didn’t love, but ultimately, I loved following Kai and Paedyn’s romance through it all. If you want to talk spoilers, message me or reply to this email. I would love to chat!
Is She Really Going Out With Him by Sophie Cousens - When I read the synopsis on the back of this book, it reminded me a little bit of How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days, which is one of my favorite movies, so of course I picked it up! It follows a divorced mom who works for a magazine and decides to write a column about going on 10 dates with men her children pick out for her in real life, not online. At the beginning of each chapter there were a couple of the main character’s recent Google searches, and I thought that was a nice touch. This book is closed door with some allusions to spicy things but no on page spice.
The Anxious Generation: How the Great Rewiring of Childhood Caused an Epidemic of Mental Illness by Jonathan Haidt - While not a romance, I finally finished this non-fiction read and wanted to share! If you are a parent, a teacher, a member of Gen Z, or honestly any human who uses any kind of screen, I think you should read this book! I recommend reading it with a friend or two and discussing it! Also, the author has a Substack where he shares updated findings and thoughts. You can check it out here!
On My Nightstand: Current Reads
Signed, Sealed, and Smitten by Melanie Jacobson - This is the seventh book in the Only Magic in the Building series. I am not too far in yet, but I love being back in Serendipity Springs. They created such a fun small town that I wish was real!
The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins - I like to read one non-fiction book a month, and so far this year, I have stuck to that goal! For this month, I was planning to read one on my physical TBR, but this one came available on Libby so I decided to read it first! I have been in a motivational kind of mood, so this has been perfect to read in those moments.
In the Queue: Upcoming Reads
The Escape Plan by Katie Bailey - This is the final book in the Only Magic in the Building series. I am so sad for it it be ending but cannot wait to pick up the final book! I am also excited to read a book by this author because I have not yet but have a lot of her books on my TBR!
The Love Haters by Katherine Center - I got an ARC of this book which is such a pinch me moment. Katherine Center is one of my absolute favorite authors, and I feel like this will be the perfect read to welcome in the warmer weather and summer feelings. It comes out May 20th!
